The Olympic and Paralympic Games are the highlight of any athlete’s career, a time where competitors from around the globe come together to compete for the honour of their countries. In a few days, my dream will become reality as I proudly wave the Maltese flag whilst competing in front of millions in the S6 50m Freestyle race at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

Despite facing obstacles while growing up, today I know that those challenges are what made me who I am, and I’m grateful for that. For those who are also facing difficulties to reach their goals, just know that once you start, the rest will come. While shyness held me back before, sport has made me more open to new experiences and boosted my confidence. Without my sport, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I hope my participation in these Games will inspire other athletes to start a sport and transform what seemed impossible yesterday into the achievements of today.
